The shaz awards are back!

The Make Up industry’s coveted Shaz Awards return for their sixth consecutive year this month, and will see make up artists, models and photographers among the winners at the glamorous ceremony.
Created by renowned make up artist Ciara Daly, who has been working in the make up industry for over a decade and boasts a busy make up academy as well as a globally successful brush range to her name, the awards are named after Ciara’s mother Sharon, affectionately known as Shaz, who passed away suddenly in 2006They aim to celebrate and encourage creative talent within the make up industry by celebrating excellence and creativity.

Ciara Daly’s make up academy, based on the Lisburn Road, is one of Ireland’s most sought after training facilities, offering courses for beginners to more experienced artists; and it has created and nurtured some of Ireland’s freshest creative talent.   Business has gone from strength to strength with courses being booked out months in advance, and her workforce doubling in size,  thanks to her newest ‘HERO House Parties’ concept.  The parties see leading make up artists making house visits across the country, and delivering insightful tutorials which educate on the use of key products, using Ciara’s professional brush collections.    The Ciara Daly range of brushes and make up products are sold worldwide, currently available in 130 retailers over Ireland and the UK, but these awards, were created to recognise the amazing talent much closer to home.

Ciara said, “I’m beyond pleased that the Shaz Awards are back for the sixth year in a row.  I am constantly in awe of the talent and work produced by the skills of our current and former students and this year is no exception.  It is not only to recognise their incredible work that I created these awards but also to credit the inspirational stories and development of the students’ careers.”
She continued, “However it should not be said that the Shaz awards were created to only recognise the incredible talent of the students of the Ciara Daly make up academy, but also the work of other artists out there.  Over the past few years Northern Ireland’s industry has boomed with fabulous campaigns and a bustling movie and television industry, creating some fabulous looks and allowing make-up artists to hone their craft on their own doorsteps.”
The awards also support the ‘Feeding Dreams’ charity, which is a charity founded by former student and Ciara’s long term close friend Arlene Gormley who uprooted from Belfast to help build schools for disadvantaged children in Cambodia. Feeding Dreams provides free education to four hundred children and young adults.

Ciara said: “I have continued to support the charity ‘Feeding Dreams’ through the Shaz awards, as its ethos lies so close to my heart.  ‘Feeding Dreams’ is a charity that helps give disadvantaged children an opportunity to learn and progress and truly better their outlook on life, and I am excited to visit in August to help out and really see where the money goes.  Similarly, over the years, I have been inspired by the stories and passion of so many of our own students and watched as they have put their energy into learning a new skill in make up artistry, and it is fantastic to see such dedication and a desire to grow.  This is why I created our Phoenix Award in the first year and this usually goes to the artist who has inspired me the most by rising from the ashes, so to speak.”
She continued “Although the awards are predominantly considered to be a celebration of those working in make up, they’re also designed to celebrate other creative talents aligned with the industry.   That’s why I’ve ensured to include awards for photographer of the year and model of the year, who make up artists obviously work very closely with.  I wanted it to be a celebration of all talents within this exciting and creative industry.”

The judges for the awards will include photographer Glenn Norwood, stylist Jamie Russell, hairdresser Lee Stinton and make-up artist Nuala Campbell. There will be nine categories which are Photoshoot of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Face of Ciara Daly Make Up, Photographer of the Year, Hairdreser of the Year, Team Member of the Year, Student of the Year, Creative make Up Award and Ciara’s personal favourite, the Phoenix Award.
The awards will take place on Sunday 28 June at AM:PM’s Cabaret Supper Club at 8pm.  Tickets for the awards are available now fromwww.ciaradalymakeup.com and are priced at £25 which will include a complimentary West Coast Cooler on arrival, with live entertainment and a goodie bag.

I've caught the fever

Photography by Norwood photography

It's not been three months since I had my Gold Fever Hair extensions applied and I can honestly say I'd never go back. There's something so weird about having long hair for most of your life to have it suddenly cut short (due to some serious bleaching).

I went blonde during the summer of 2014,went back to brown in September and my hair honestly didn't grow for a full year. I wore foxylocks for a good year and a half which often looked slightly unnatural and were honestly just super annoying to have to apply everyday (and reapply when they slipped out).

Also, clip ins aren't so great when you're watching a movie and your boyfriend decides to go anywhere near your hair without loosing his hand in the mass of metal clips.
It was March of this year that I traveled to Newry to have my Gold Fever Extensions put in. I had done a serious amount of research into bonded extensions and I've also had the pleasure of seeing some awful sets while in work. I knew from the outset that Gold Fever was the Rolls Royce of hair extensions, and I know a few girls that already had them so I had total faith in the brand and the specialist salons they had selected to stock the hair.

Three months on and my hair is in perfect condition. When on holiday Aaron was watching me get ready and I started saying how amazing the brand is,he then asked to see the actual extensions because he had never even noticed them before. Bear in mind that I see Aaron most days and he is constantly touching my hair. If that's not testament to Gold Fever's quality then I don't know what is.

The extensions were a dream on holiday,I have a natural curl and my extensions seem to follow my natural root to give  me a natural looking wave without doing a thing. The pictures above of me on the beach were taken after swimming in the sea. Amazing.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to let my extensions go,they've given me a massive confidence boost and to be honest I do think they've changed my life, very dramatic I know, but it's the straight up truth.
You can find your closest salon and more information here.

I'd highly recommend you invest in this amazing hair, you won't regret it.

Holiday vibes

I've just gotten back from my first holiday abroad with my boyfriend Aaron and
he kindly acted as my photographer for these shots. I had originally planned on shooting my "outfit of the night" pictures every night but I soon realized that I'd rather lounge in the sun and enjoy my time with Aaron instead.

All I knew was we had to photograph this outfit which was one of my most tropical of the week, and I adored it. We went to Portugal and had a really amazing time,I'm devastated to be back but I'm excited to be getting into the swing of things again. I've started reading "Leave your mark" by Aliza Licht after seeing it on the facebook page of my friend and  fellow blogger Niamh Kelly style. It's hugely motivational and has encouraged me to really start focusing on bellamalone.com,especially as i'm off to uni soon and I want to start as I mean to go on.

I'll be creating a post of personal shots of our time in Portugal with some of the other outfits I wore, including the stunning Gypsea bikini I was sent to enjoy on my trip.
I hope you're all well and you're enjoying the decent weather we have at the moment (at last)!

Speak soon xo

Dr Martens know the score.

I love working with them and they never fail to impress me. I went along to their summer festival event on Wednesday and was spoilt rotten. I was greeted on arrival by the lovely manager Laura and the fab Aysha who let us know what the event was all about.
We were treated to the cocktails of our choice from Love and death inc which were absolutely gorgeous.
I checked out their summer range (which includes some fab Birkenstock esque sandals) and tried on a few pairs. I've never had Dr Marten boots and I never thought I could pull them off,but I went for the pascal boot in black! I honestly do love them,I choose pascal in particular because Aysha explained that they are a much softer leather so they don't have to be broken in at all. I ended up wearing them home and leaving my Zara sandals in the box because they were so comfortable!

I then went upstairs to have my nails done by Nails INC that also gifted me a gorgeous goodybag full of treats! I had a bright coral orange done as I was off to Amsterdam the following day and i'm going to Portugal in a few days time.

A massive thanks to Laura and the team for an amazing event, you know how to do it girls!
